Senior Advisors are expected to play a central role in advising the Board on the value-added component of each Portfolio Company post acquisition. The Senior Advisors are: Paul Wyman CHENG Mr. Cheng has been involved in private equity and investment banking for more than 30 years and until recently was engaged as a consultant on an Asian Development Bank project in India. Prior to that, he was a partner and Managing Director of Delta Associates, the advisor to the US$350 million Asian Equity Infrastructure Fund. Previously, he was with AIG Investment Corp as Director of Direct Investments, responsible for TMT transactions, as well as Director and Acting Deputy CEO of the US$1.2 billion AIG Asia Infrastructure Fund I. As an investment banker, he was Head of M&A at BZW Asia where he was also seconded to Cable & Wireless PLC for two years to undertake M&A activities in China. Between 1982 and 1992, he was an Executive Director in NM Rothschild HK, engaged in corporate finance and M&A work in the region. Paul was also a Partner in Arthur Andersen and Managing Director of Andersen Corporate Finance. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Hong Kong Securities Institute. Paul received a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland and completed post-graduate studies at INSEAD, France and the Harvard Business School. Cheng Wen CHENG Dr. Cheng is currently the CEO of AcrossAsia Ltd and Chairman of Matahari. He is the founding CEO of the Provisional Hong Kong Science Park Corporation and has successfully launched and promoted the Hong Kong Science Park as an R&D centre for some of the world’s leading hi-technology companies. His knowledge of technology was built through successive positions in the electronics and telecommunications industries, where he served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, respectively, of Philips Electronics Group in Greater China, a US$5 billion in revenues operation. Previously, he was President of Taiwan Gadelius, an ABB subsidiary and, Vice President of Taiwan International Standard Electronics Ltd, an ALCATEL member. Dr. Cheng received his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from National Cheng Kung University and Master and Doctor degrees from Iowa State University. Bob L. S. CHING Mr. Ching served as Vice Chairman of Morningside (China), a private equity investment firm, for ten years until his retirement in 2004. He still serves on the boards of several Morningside-related companies in China, Europe, the United States and Japan. In addition to deal-related activities, he has served as Chairman and Vice Chairman in companies which Morningside has invested, and typically assuming responsibility in strategic planning for M&A and global alliances. From 1985 to 1993, Mr. Ching was the Executive Director of the Boston Consulting Group for China. He had led assignments relating to economic reforms and enterprise restructuring on behalf of Chinese industry ministries and bureaus, multilateral agencies, and multinational corporations. Mr. Ching headed the Boston Consulting Group’s practice in Asia from 1976 to 1985, while based in Tokyo. He has worked with The World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and led a number of consulting assignments for Chinese and multi-national companies.
